Help honor our volunteers!
June 1 is the deadline to submit nominations for the 2015 national Sierra Club awards. The club gives out 24 different national awards for work in a variety of areas, including communications, conservation, environmental justice, and working with youth. Descriptions of all the awards, as well as a link to the nomination forms, can be found at the Awards Committee website at www.sierraclub.org/awards. Several awards even come with monetary awards for groups or chapters. If you have any questions about the awards process, contact committee chair Ellen Davis at email@example.com. This year's national awards will be presented at a Sept. 12 event in San Francisco.
Sierra Club Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Website
This website is intended to offer a variety of resources to support individual and organizational growth towards a multicultural, justice-oriented Sierra Club. The readings, videos, worksheets, and modules offer information on a variety of topics and the page itself provides a community space for staff and volunteers to connect about the issues. Please feel free to post and share ideas, concerns or questions as they surface in relation to your experiences. Learn More.

Chapter-Related National Staff Changes for 2014
The Sierra Club’s commitment to enhancing support that strengthens and integrates chapter work continues into 2014. This commitment is rooted in the recommendations from the May 1, 2012 Chapter National Relationship Task Force Report, which was received and approved by the Board of Directors on May 19, 2012.
Changes for 2014
A number of staffing changes in late 2013 and early 2014, along with funding and program shifts, will result in several changes in chapter support structures that phase in over the first half of 2014. The memo linked here highlights the big picture staffing changes. Many details of how specific responsibilities will change are yet to be determined. A chapter support map with detailed information on responsibilities is available on Clubhouse, and will be updated periodically as these changes take place.
Influence the Future!
The Sierra Club has appointed a Task Force to develop recommendations for strengthening our work on climate. To influence this process, Chapter and Group ExComs and relevant committee leaders are organizing Climate Movement Dialogs across the country to engage their leaders and elicit good ideas.
Learn more about organizing a Climate Movement Dialog in your area and/or add your dialog process event to our
national conversation tracker spreadsheet so we can support you in your efforts.
If you have any questions about the Climate Movement Dialog process, please contact Liz Pallatto at Liz Pallatto or 415.977.5674.
